The ball we're talking about is la pelota (de Iris).
She is the official 'suck up' of the forums.
Tomísimo (David) added a ball in the Smilies group so that we can give her the credit she deserves.

La pelota de la cual hablamos es la de Iris.

Ok, Rusty, I got it, about of your ball, or better said, Iris's ball. (Solemos usar la frase mejor dicho cuando hablamos inglés.) (Preferimos usar la forma posesiva, en vez de 'the ball of Iris'.)

Whenever Always that I want to ask a question whatever, do I have to use 'about'? Example:

Do What place are you talking about? (Here, you must use 'about'. 'To talk about' = hablar de algo
What are you talking about? = ¿De qué hablas?)

Some verbs require certain prepositions, just like in Spanish. When we talk about something/someone, the preposition 'about' always follows the verb. We can also speak about something/someone. These two verbs mean the same thing - hablar de algo/alguien.
In Spanish, you use the preposition de. In English, we use the preposition about. Learning which prepositions go with which verbs requires a lot of study, for both of us! This is mostly because the prepositions you use in Spanish are not necessarily the same ones we use in English.
And sometimes, just like in Spanish, different prepositions can be used to change the meaning.

Your examples are great and very interesting.
About and of are both prepositions and usually mean the same thing when following a verb, as Rusty earlier explained, but they´re never used together.

Podemos entender mal la última frase si no sabemos de qué fiesta hablas. We may misunderstand the last sentence if we don't know what holiday you're talking about.
