| View Full Version : Que honda? Tania March 28, 2007, 09:13 AM What is the (closest) literal translation of que honda? Tomisimo March 28, 2007, 11:04 AM onda literally means wave. (without the h) For example: onda del mar - ocean wave wavy hair - cabello ondulado But ¿Qué onda? as a greeting etc, (used most commonly in Mexico) simply means What's up? / what's happening? / What's goin' down? BTW, Welcome Tania :) Tania March 28, 2007, 05:14 PM Thank you David! Tomisimo March 29, 2007, 12:18 AM No problem :) ChadH March 30, 2007, 05:05 PM Does honda with the h exist too? Or is it the car. Zach March 30, 2007, 07:37 PM Does honda with the h exist too? Or is it the car. I believe that honda means deep. For example, in the Florida Keys there is an island named Bahía Honda, which means deep bay. sosia April 02, 2007, 12:10 AM Zach it's right. "hondo/a" is deep. "honda" can also be a sling, like the one in David & Goliath. Look at Tomisimo's dictionary :D ChadH April 24, 2007, 07:22 PM OK Thank you. Want to contribute to this discussion?
