How to say "$5 even"?

Hi guys this question has been killing me lately!

I want to be able to say "even" like in the sense of exactly $5. I know I could say "exactamente cinco dollares" but I thought I had heard of a different way of saying it.

cinco dólares exactos
cinco dólares cerrados

cinco dólares justo

Arkoiris October 22, 2018 06:27 PM

@poli "cinco dólares justos" o justo cinco dólares?

poli October 24, 2018 08:59 PM

justo not justos

Justo can be used in both positions but I believe the nuance changes a little bit.
I can't give you a definitive answer on this, but justo cinco dólaresif it's used at all sounds like just five dollars, and cinco dólares justo sounds like five dollars and nothing more (no change).

Pay attention to what native speakers add, but I believe this is correct info.

@Poli: I would prefer "cinco dólares justos" and "justo cinco dólares", as Arkoiris said. Although Spanish is flexible and "cinco dólares justo" is not necessarily incorrect, "justo", which is used as an adverb here is too far from the "cinco" --the adjective it's modifying, so it sounds strange. :)

I think I recall hearing "cerrados" used for this in Mexico, but I'm not sure.

Yes. It's commonly used. :)

"Cinco dólares justos" is what I would use in Spain...

Well, not really, I would use "Cinco EUROS justos"... ;-)

Never heard the Mexican usage with "cerrados"... Interesting!
