Cuerdo
This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for December 4, 2009
cuerdo (adjective) — sane, sensible, wise, prudent. Look up cuerdo in the dictionary Ese pobre no está cuerdo. That poor man is insane. / That poor man isn't in his right mind. De cuerdo y loco todos tenemos un poco. We're all a little crazy in one way or another. Un cuerdo consejo ... Some prudent advice ... |
To a person insane shouldn't buy the drugs and later consume them.

Una persona cuerda no conduce un carro mientras está nievada. Pero hoy es el único día que puedo ir a la tienda. Supongo que no estoy cuerda. :)

cuerdo + ser = sensible Supongo que no estoy cuerda.:bad: Supongo que no soy cuerda.:good::thinking: |

If you said "no soy cuerdo" I would correct you immediately :D I guess you mean "soy una persona cuerda" ;) Don't ask me about the difference if you add "persona" and change the verb. I don't know. In Spain we say "ser una persona cuerda" (sensible, prudent, not mad) y "estar cuerdo" (not mad). Maybe in other countries "ser cuerdo" is used  |
Thanks Irmamar :):)
