"se nos hacía"?

In the image below, why is "se nos hacía" used? I get that the sentence basically means "Some days, we would forget the time and end up being here in the park very late", and I think the "se" is an accidental "se".

From what I understand, this literally reads as "Some days, we would forget the time and it would accidentally make us very late here in the park". Am I getting that right?

"Hacerse tarde" is used for expressing that it gets late.

When time passes by and a person is supposed to be somewhere else, you need the personal pronoun for whom it's getting late.
- Se me hace tarde para tomar el té. (yo)
I'm getting late for tea.
- ¿No se te está haciendo tarde? ()
Isn't it getting a little late for you?
- A mi tía siempre se le hacía tarde para ir a la iglesia. (él/ella)
My aunt was always late for church.
- Disculpen la hora. Se nos hizo tarde. (nosotros)
Sorry about the hour. We're too late.
- ¿Dónde las espero si se les hace tarde? (ustedes)
Where should I wait for you if you arrive late?
- A los jugadores se les hizo tarde y se suspendió el partido. (ellas/ellos)
The players did not arrive on time and the game was cancelled.
