¿A quién admiras?

This is the Feb. journal.

Who do you admire?

I believe it has to be what actor/actress you admire.

Help, I know some actors and actresses, but I don't know them very well.

What should I do? research them?

Yes, do some research. You need to form your own opinions so that you can state who you admire and why. Maybe you won't have to select a celebrity.

i'm sorry, i can't really help you. actors and actresses aren't at the top of my list. are you sure it can't be someone else?

CrOtALiTo February 07, 2009 09:50 AM

I admire to Nicole Kidman, and Charlize Theron.

Jessica February 07, 2009 10:19 AM

okay I will research but I have to use, as usual, words I already learned.

Actors and actresses usually are not very "admirable"
but there are exceptions.
For example a "young"actress Natalie Portman. She's 27, and has made a lot of things. You can agree or not with her, but she's hardworking and clever. or Keyra Knightley
A young singer ShakiraShakira

Then compare both with people like Lindsay Lohan or Britney Spears
Saludos :D

If I were using that question as a prompt in my classroom, I wouldn't assume to mean "actor or actress". Jessica - are you sure that your teacher wants an entertainer? Are there people who you know personally who you admire? If you're not sure about the intent of the question, why don't you try writing about someone ELSE who you admire. Like a world leader or a human rights activist or a grandparent or something....

I will ask but we're learning about TV shows and movies. wouldn't it be actors and actresses?
Hopefully it can be someone else.
I will ask.

Another thing to keep in mind, Jessica - when you're writing for an assignment like this, you don't have to write about someone you REALLY admire ... you have to write well about someone AS IF you admired them. If you don't care to be truly introspective here - just choose someone who isn't appalling (maybe someone who does charity work in their free time?) and write something about them that SUPPORTS the idea of admiration. You know the words ... just write them.

"I admire George Clooney because he truly helped the world understand how horrible the Darfur situation is....." I don't really admire George Clooney any more than anyone else. But he HAS done this thing that is (admittedly) admirable. So I could write about it AS IF I admired him.

Make sense? (School is sometimes a game to give back to the teacher what they are looking for - not necessarily what you think or believe in your heart.....)

yeah I know I understand. :)
