Atreverse
This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for May 24, 2009
atreverse (verb) — to dare, venture. Look up atreverse in the dictionary ¿Te atreves? Are you game? |
"Are you game?" creo que se podría traducir más por "¿te apuntas?", en lugar de "¿te atreves?". Quizá esté equivocada
|
is that a reflexive verb?
I don't understand the sentence either |

Irmamar - I looked "te apuntas" up on another website and it seems that it is equivalent to the English "Are you in?" This is similar to "Are you game?", but "Are you game" has more danger and intrigue implied.
Some scenarios: - "Kristi and I are going to go out for a hamburger and will probably pick up a movie. Are you in (with us)?" - "At the amusement park nearby they have bungee jumping. I'm scared to death to try it, but I think I could do it if you went with me. Are you game?" (In other words, "do you dare do something so scary!?") Do you see the difference in intensity of the situation? |
I got it the expression and also I liked the kind to expression.
Are you game to jump in the truck during the trip in the wood? |
