To Lose Your Baby
To Lose Your Baby - To have a miscarriage
To have a miscarriage is abortar, but that is also the word for to have an abortion. I would hate for there to be a misunderstanding, so is there a phrase I can use in Spanish for to lose your baby? Is the literal translation, perder tu bebé, used commonly in Spanish or would a native speaker give me a strange look? |

Yes I understand your commentary, but simply you can say I loss to my that in it in Spanish is equivalent to Perdi a mi bebe.
Or like you can say. You have a embarrassing to high risk. Tener un embarazo de alto riesgo. Really I don't know any other word that could give you the example that you're finding in Spanish. |

"Perder el bebé" would be understood and is commonly used.
"Tener un aborto espontáneo" (as opposed to "Tener un aborto voluntario") would also be appropriate but more formal. |
I agree with almost everything you've written above, but the truth is that when speaking Spanish we hardly ever make the distinction and hope that the context will do the explaining for us.
Anyway, if you say: He tenido un aborto it means you have had a miscarriage whereas if you say He abortado it could either be a miscarriage or a termination. |
Gracías a todos =)
