I believe I found the place you got the sentence from (I go there frequently) and it doesn't appear to have a metophorical usage. They took a literal translation approach to the sentence:
The experiments were carried out in/on/with an apple/apples.

The context was lab work. I don't know what experiments were performed. I just eat them.

I believe it, there apples for eat.

Could be the a block, it call a apple, or perhaps a candy apple.

There's also the Adam's apple, which I believe in Spanish is the nuez/bocado/manzana de Adán.

In Spanish, for Adam's apple the most common is nuez.
Also, bocado de Adán.

Do you usually say nuez alone, or nuez de Adán?

María José June 16, 2008 12:27 AM

Just nuez.

Nuez is enough.
  • Menuda nuez tienes.
  • Ya no se ve gente con tanta nuez.
