Canción

This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for May 16, 2008

canción -feminine noun (la), song. Look up canción in the dictionary

There's always a song for every feeling you can have.

As you have already guessed, most songs make me think of Alfonso. So I'm not telling you anything new...;)

Iris May 16, 2008 05:49 AM

I hadn't thought of cupids, but now that you say it...
I was looking for an avatar that would reflect my much-talked-about innocence.:D

I think cupids are innocent gods of love as opposed to Aphrodite who
appears more practiced.

Iris May 16, 2008 09:21 AM

Te veo muy pesimista. Love trouble?

gatitoverde May 16, 2008 10:04 AM

Actually, Iris, I'm one of those weird birds who've never loved. I only made the comment because I thought people would respond to it. And I should note that Aphrodite has several varying antecedants---a powerful goddess of the sea, a goddess of the dawn with much of the power you would expect to be ascribed thereto, etc.

Artemis, Apollo's twin and the goddess of the hunt--for those of you who don't know--has a similar split personality, being tied to Selena, an older moon goddess.
