Curso/asignatura
I know asignatura is a term for a school course. Is curso used as well or is it an
anglicism? |
Estoy cursando la asignatura Física Aplicada. Tuve que optar entre el curso del Lunes a las 19 horas y el curso del Sábado a las 8 horas.
asignatura: it's part of a curriculum curso: the same, or any course about anything, anywhere. Hice un curso de plantas de balcón en 6 clases. La profesora era una divina (use flamboyant voice intonation accordingly) |
Ok, thanks. So you would say hice un curso not tomé un curso. That's good to know also.
|
Usage wise, in Spain we also say, "Hice un curso de..."
In other areas (like Mexico?) I believe they say more, "Tomé un curso de..." Saludos cordiales. (Uy, me comí la tilde sobre la "é"... ¡Eeeepa!) |
@Poli: As Pablo said, in Mexico you can say "tomé un curso" or "llevé un curso", when you are the student; our teachers say "dar un curso". We tend to use "hacer un curso" mostly for designing it and choosing the contents of it. :)
