word for a floor tile
What's probably the most accurate word for a floor tile? i.e. a standard 10x10 or 12x12 ceramic, porceline or plastic floor tile.
seems to be quite a few too many listed for me to make an accurate distinction. Also which verb would you choose for "to tile" with regards to flooring? estoy pensando es entejar. |
I think "teja" is a roof tile. "Baldosa" is a good word for floor tiles. If it's good ceramic tile, like the stuff we import from Italy, "azulejo "can be used. I think "baldosar" is a good verb to use for laying tile. Anyway that's what we use here on the east coast with a large Caribbean population. It would be interesting to hear if other words are used in other parts of the Spanish speaking world.

Poli's right. "losa", "baldosa" or "azulejo" You can use "enlosar","azulejar" or "baldosar"/"embaldosar".
The professionals here usually use "azulejar" because it refers to all posible tiles (floortiles and wall tile, not to roof tiles, who are called "teja"), but all are OK Similar question: http://forums.tomisimo.org/showthread.php?t=584 greetings :D |
Nunca había oido eso de ensolar. Sólo alicatar.

In México, The most common word for floor or wall tiles is azulejo. Azulejar would be the verb. This has already been mentioned, I'm adding another confirmation :)
