Reanudar el paro

How do we say in English reanudar el paro, to resume collecting?
reanudar el paro, is when you finish a job and you go to the unemployment office to ask them to resume unemployment benefits collecting.

In the UK, if you request unemployment benefit (or whatever they call it now) the colloquial expression is to sign on. (...the unemployment register).

If you have stopped and then do it again, I guess you sign on again.

Probably totally different in the USA.

US:
restart unemployment benefits
renew ...
reestablish ...

In the States the process of receiving unemployment is called collecting
unemployment. Applying for unemployment and re-applying for unemployement are the terms I think are most common for initiating the service.
