Nosotros decimos púa.

También hay

Rasqueado / rasqueo - a strum with backs of fingers
Golpeador - tap plate
Caja / cuerpo - body

AngelicaDeAlquezar August 05, 2009 11:25 AM

Requinto (el) = riff?

I've heard rasgueo but not rasqueado. Also, I though it was with a g, not a q. Body is caja, but are you sure cuerpo can also be used?

Riff is mostly used with electric guitars to refer to figure or part of a solo. I'm not sure that requinto can be used like that.

I only know 'requinto' as a name for a smaller guitar (usually with a single cutaway).

AngelicaDeAlquezar March 16, 2011 10:00 AM

In trio music played around here, some guitar solos that need a certain skill to play fast notes are called "requintos". That is why I thought it might be related to electric guitar riffs. :)

Chamín Correa is a guitar player, famous for his "requintos"...

You're right, Tomísimo:

Básicamente, la guitarra está compuesta por la caja de resonancia, el mástil, el puente, el diapasón, los trastes, las cuerdas y el clavijero. (WKPD)

A bit belatedly, I've spotted 'agudo' translated as 'high', I think 'sharp' would be more accurate; especially in UK English.

Now this is interesting.

powerchisper July 15, 2011 03:17 PM

"Requinto" must be a south-american word , I am a metal guitar player and never heard of it.

"Enquintar" means to adjust the intonation at the bridge

"Quinta" is a "fifth interval"

I also know "plectrum" for "púa"

"Trastero" in Spain is quite a different thing , it means a room for storing old stuff or things not often used ( trastos )

la guitarra flamenca: "blanca" = aros y fondo de ciprés; "negra" = de palosanto.
la tapa de las dos puede ser de pino, o de cedro.

los aros = sides
el fondo = back
la tapa (armónica) = top

Maybe this is also interesting for this thread:
http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tapping

El ukulele es tambíen una guitarra, ¿no?
(btw. is this small sentence correct?)

Rusty August 31, 2013 04:50 PM

también

Otherwise, your sentence is correct.

tetsuo August 31, 2013 05:22 PM

Thanks. It's always this error. :-(
