Tengo fobia a los animales
 
Tengo fobia a los animales.
Le tengo fobia a los animales.
Les tengo fobia a los animales.

Is there an incorrect sentence? A native is saying the second is correct.

Why should 'le' o 'les' be at the start of the sentence?

Correctas son la primera y la tercera. La segunda no lo es en ningĂșn caso: el OI "los animales" (plural=les). Error tĂ­pico de hispanohablantes.

To answer the other question, the indirect object pronoun is optional when the indirect object is stated. That's why there are two correct sentences.
