Colarse en el metro
How can I say colarse en el metro, en el bus etc...?
|
A couple of options,
to sneak on the subway without paying (US) to sneak on the tube/underground without paying (UK) Let's hear from the natives! |
to sneak into the metro?
to sneak into the gym to sneak into the cinema etc... ? |
to get/hop on the subway without paying
to sneak onto the subway to skip paying the subway fare to jump the turnstile (jump over the roller bar at the turnstile to avoid paying the fare) at the subway For buses, the driver collects fares at the main door. If two doors exist, the back one can be entered without paying a fare, but the driver watches for that kind of thing. to sneak into the gym/cinema |

To jump the turnstile is definitely the term for colarse en el metro, even though turnstiles aren't used anymore. Maybe beating the fare is a more contemporary term. Definitely those who proverbally "jump the turnstiles" are known as fare beaters. If they get caught, it's big trouble for them while the fat cat thieves get away with billions like the orange man in Washington.;)
