Usted me ayuda traducirlo, por favor
Qué tal,
estoy escribiendo un cuento en español para practicarlo y necesito un poco de ayuda con gramatica ¿Cómo se dice en español, "The man told him if he could do it in two days time he would then have to renounce his title and step down from the throne. A deal was struck, what a pity." ? (not sure how to word this last part) gracias para tu ayuda |

I have a doubt with "the man told him". That can be translated into: "el hombre se dijo" o "el hombre le dijo". Who is "him"? the one who is speaking, I mean, himself? Wouldn't it be "The man told himself"? Thanks. |

I think you would say in English: "your first language is English", not "was", am I wrong (it could be :))?
I think that English books also make difficult some things (and also Spanish books do). The best way for learning is with examples, that's what I think.:) |

Your first language is/was Spanish? You're requesting confirmation of something you already know. Does that make sense?:) |

You're good, Chileno! :)
Now I understand the difference between "is" and "was" in this case. Thank you,Ambarina :) |
