Newbie - Mi español no es muy bueno

So i've been learning for about 2 months - mainly using Internet and a CD by Michel Thomas...

I've always wanted to learn a language. So in my spare time I've decided to try and pick up a few phrases, and words.

If I'm in Spain could I say something like;

(PLEASE PLEASE feel free to comment / make suggestions, as I'd rather learn things correctly but slowly than quickly and badly!!!)

1) is this any good?
"Yo solo saber un poco español.
pero tratando de aprender mas...
puede hablar mas despacio por favor."

"I only know a little Spanish
but trying to learn more...
can you speak more slowly please"

2) what is best way of saying 'My Spanish is not very good'

Thanks
Col

Welcome to the forum. Like English, you have to conjugate the verb you're using to match the tense and person you're trying to communicate. Your sentence should read: (Yo) Solo sé un poco de español pero trato de aprender/estoy tratando de aprender más. "Puede hablar más despacio" is correct.

As for the second question.... You can say that or instead of using bueno, you can use "genial" (great).

It will take a long time... just stick with it.
