Release Year

I am currently provided with two different translations for "Release Year" phrase according to the context:
- For a movie, the translation is "Año de estreno"
- For a music album, the translation is "Año de lanzamiento"

My question is: can I use only one translation for both contexts? If I can, which one will it be?

I would use these phrases as indicated and not try a single translation for both.

I think you can use "año de lanzamiento" for both. It can also be used for other things like the year software was released.

EDIT: I agree with Rusty that "año de estreno" is better for movies, but if you have to use one translation for both (as in you're translating software or a website that doesn't allow you to distinguish between the two), then I think "año de lanzamiento" will work. Or you could push back and say you need a separate phrase for each.
