Prestar/tomar declaración

Como se dice en Inglés prestar /tomar declaración ante la policía ?

Tomisimo July 27, 2009 09:54 AM

prestar declaración = to make a declaration, to testify, to give testimony
tomar declaración = to receive testimony?

Ej.: La policía tomo declaración a 4 testigos.

Te Police recieved testimony from 4 witnesses. ????

I saw to take statement. Which one is the correct?

I think both are ok.

La policía tomo declaración a 4 testigos.
The police took statements from four witnesses.
The police received testimony from four witnesses.

I think "to take a statement" would be what the police do at the scene, and "to receive testimony" would be in a courtroom.

Thanks, so both are correct.
