I'm sorry to say this, bur really It doesn't make sense in Spanish.

It will be better if was Ella estubo en mi lugar.

She was in my place.

ella fue en mi lugar. Ella fue al cine por mi, tuve que quedarme trabajando y no quería que se perdiera la entrada, así que se la dí a ella para que fuera en mi lugar.
