Pese a
What is the meaning of this phrase? It was used in this context:
Pese a los deseos de su madre, Sabrine nació una semana después de que fue detenida en Libia. |
Pese a is another way to say a pesar de. One of the possible translations of these expressions into English is "in spite of".

Welcome to the forums mrkool078, and thanks for the question. In fact, I used to say a pesar de until somebody told me pese a is more usual. Plus it has one less syllable!
|
@Glen: Both expressions are very common; I would hardly hear one more often than the other.
