Si __ a tiempo + condicional

Es correcto decir:

Si prepares la comida a tiempo, pasaríamos a comer contigo.

?

Mi unica duda es en congujar preparar en el subjuntivo...hay otro modo o tiempo que sería mejor?

Gracias

Hello and goodafternoon.

I will do an littles corrections in the your phrases.

In the first ones you should to write the verb preparar in English, therefore you should to write there the following Si preparas la comida a tiempo

Now in your questio above.
If you would to make the food.
Si tu preparas la comida.

I believe what that is the you need to know about your question.

Have a good day.

If the main clause verb is in the conditional mood, the imperfect subjunctive is used in the dependent clause. That said, not all 'si' clauses require the subjunctive.

I'm not exactly certain what you wanted to say in the first place, so please write it in English, and then we'll be able to give a more definitive answer. Thanks!

Rusty:

I want to say definitively that if you would prepare the food on time, we would eat with you. So do I use the imperfect subjunctive, since it's more of a definite thing?

Thanks

Then these are both ways I would use. You pick the one that you want.

Si preparas la comida a/con tiempo, cenaríamos/comeríamos juntos.

Si prepararas la comida a/con tiempo, cenaríamos/comeríamos juntos.

Yes, chileno's first example has an indicative mood 'si' clause (definite possibility).
The clause in the second example is written in the subjunctive mood (doubtful).

It's exactly the I wanted to say there with the examples that I also wanted to explain him.
