Los chicos decían necedades durante todo el viaje.
The kids talked foolishness all the way there.

A mi me suena mejor: decían tonterías. Pero es lo de siempre: como estoy al otro lado del charco...;)

A mí me pasa igual :D

¿En España sería una palabra "a la antigua usanza" (gracias, Robin), entonces?

Es cierto que "decir necedades" es mejor para un borracho:

Dame las llaves de mi coche. Yo puedo manejar. :eek:

...pero cuando los niños gritan durante un viaje para llamar la atención...

¿Ya vamos a llegar?
¡Mamá, quiero ir al baño!
¿Ya vamos a llegar?
¡Estoy mareado!
¿Ya vamos a llegar?
¡Tengo calor!
¿Ya vamos a llegar?

...sí me siento muy tentada a aplicarlo así. :D


De cualquier manera, "necedad", en México, generalmente se usa como "testarudez", cuando se trata de algo más o menos absurdo:

El niño estuvo con la necedad de que quería un videojuego.
The boy was stubbornly asking for a videogame.

Pero qué necedad la tuya: ya te dije que no puedes brincar por la ventana. :impatient:
You are so stubborn; I have already told you that you can't jump out of the window.

Por su necedad, vendió la casa y ahora no tiene dónde dormir.
He/she insisted in selling the house and now he/she has no place to sleep.

Creo que ese DailyWord robot está posteando necedades entonces. :)

For a child it will be a little too "strong". It's like calling him "necio". I will use it with adult people. For children "tonterias" will be ok, as others said. I like to use the word "naderias" or "nimiedades" too, but it's something personal. If i have to use the ones we use here all the time, I will have to put some badwords ... :P
