Being it

can anybody explain to me the meaning of this expression "being it" that I came across the other day?

In a game, 'being it' means that you are the one whose turn it is to hide, find, run, kick, etc. (la lleva, la tiene).

and in other contexts?

Being it more figuratively means to be the one who stands out (la persona que destaca).

And there are other contexts. In which context did you discover the phrase?
