Benidorm

My daughter lived there for fourteen years, we visited her there often, but it's only today that I spotted an anomaly - it's spelled without accentuation so according to all my textbooks it should be pronounced "Ben'idorm", i.e. with the accentuation on the 'i'; but it isn't, it's always pronounced 'B'enidorm' - with the stress on the 'e'. Any thoughts on this, you guys?

The Moors gave the town its Arabic name. The first part of the name, beni, means 'sons of' or 'descendants of.' The part that follows refers to the clan or tribe that inhabited the place. So, the town's name was originally two Arabic words, but are now represented by the Roman letters that best represented the Arabic sounds.

The pronunciation you gave—/ˈbɛnɪdɔːrm/—is the English pronunciation.
The Valencian pronunciation of the town, whose charter was granted in 1325, is /beniˈðɔɾm/, and the Spanish pronunciation is /beniˈðoɾ/, each stressed on the final syllable as expected.
