una carta de puño y letra
Can somebody translate this form me? Thank you.
|
This means handwritten letter.
|
Thank you for clarifying this to me. With the word puño I thought it may have meant an urgent or angry letter.
|
You're welcome.
Something de puño (y letra) is something handwritten, or something in one's own handwriting. de tu puño y letra = in your own handwriting Escrito de puño (y letra) de ... = written by the hand of ... |
Yes, it is. But I wouldn't write y letra between brackets, as I don't think it's common to say just escrito de tu puño. Of course, it's not impossible, but the common idiom, at least here, is de tu puño y letra.
Nothing to do with angriness. |
Thanks, Alfonso.

Added puño y letra to the idiom dictionary. :)

Yo siempre la he escuchado como una frase hecha completa "de su puño y letra", nunca suelta "puño y letra", como aparece en el modismo.
Es una carta auténtica de Velázquez, de su puño y letra. Escribió de su propio puño y letra sus últimas recomendaciones antes de morir. Saludos :D |
