The same thing as
-We returned to our old school, and Mary could tell John was thinking the same thing as she did. (=as she thought)
-We returned to our old school, and Mary could tell John was thinking the same thing as she was. (=as she was thinking) Are they both correct and idiomatic? |
The second sentence is OK, but you have the option of leaving the final verb off. The sentence isn't good.
