'Easo'

While on holiday on the Costa Blanca a couple of years after I began learning Spanish we 'pulled' (pillamos) a couple of English girls staying in a hotel round the corner from ours, it was called Hotel Easo. The ladies pestered me to explain what Easo meant - I couldn't and nearly fifty years later with a Spanish wife I still can't! Can anyone enlighten me please?

I should say that the sign on the gatepost pictured a buxom smiling campesina con una cesta enorme llena de trigo.

Possible explanation from a quick search on Google: "Easo" may refer to the Spanish city of San Sebastián, which is called "la Bella Easo" --as it's supposed to be the Roman name of a city established there in former times. It wouldn't be strange for me that a hotel would be named after a Spanish city, if I judge from the many that can be found in Mexico. :)

Thank you - yes that does seem to make sense!

Unless that was some kind of acronym or so, that's the only explanation I can come up with. :D
I'm glad it made sense to you. :)
