I really really love this song! It's very sincere, from the heart. It transcends language, like many of her songs. Problem is, like poets from any language, her songs often employ modes of speaking that are not always heared on the street. Could anyone translate this song and describe what it's referring to?

I wouldn't dare to translate into English (and I don't know J. V. either). I don't know what she is trying to say, but I don't like to be compared with a paper. A paper napkin or a light bill are just useful things and I don't consider myself a useful thing (or maybe I am, or perhaps I'm not even a useful thing :thinking: ). Paper napkins are thrown into the dustbin after being used... :mad: And I don't like either to be compared with the bark of a tree, which could mean a superficial thing. :thinking:

And nothing to do an infraction or the pages of a bible with the fact of being honest. :thinking:

Well, I'll try to make a search for this song and maybe I change my mind. :) But this is my first thought. ;)

The song is called "Esta Vez", from her debut album.
And I do understand that the song might defy conventional translation, as Julieta is very poetic, and those types mold the language(s) to their own unique narrative. So I definitely wasn't asking for a translation to the words/phrases of it, but the meaning behind it.

The only thing I think she missed is that the comparisons made in the song are of objects that aren't alike at all, except that they're made of paper.
The line about tree bark having nothing to do with the sweating of the wind gives the premise of the song - dissimilarity. To me, the song speaks of two people that are fundamentally the same, but totally opposite in purpose. However, I don't know how this makes them honest forever (the lyrics end in 'forever, forever, forever', but those words weren't included in the OP).

I realized you were asking for a meaning behind the song. Literal translation in poetry is always something amazingly different than what I ever really think it should mean. lol. Hence the reason I did not answer that one. Rusty did a pretty good job on it though. :D

"...el sudar del viento"? That phrase doesn't make sense, I've not heared it before.

And last but not least, at the end of the song, she passionately chants this word over and over again, after the "Para siempre" line, I can't make out the word, but it ends in "....'iende". Oddly, this last word doesn't appear in the official lyrics.

A mí personalmente esa canción no me dice nada de nada. No sé qué trata de decir cuando "nos" compara con una servilleta y un recibo de luz.
