In Spain we say carnet de conducir for driving licence.

Se utiliza esta palabra también o es mejor decir 'carnet de conducir'? :) |

Un "permiso" en México es para menores de edad (de los 16 a los 18 años). Los adultos obtienen "licencias". :)

Ah, claro... es un permiso que dura las dos semanas del curso de manejo... pero normalmente se tramita la licencia casi de inmediato. :)
