I'm not sure I could translate it into English. I'll try an explanation and maybe you can say the English word for it.
Something is al rojo vivo when it's really exciting, or a lot of things are happening at the same time, or it's really interesting, or it has suddenly come to the forefront... Summing up: when a lot of activities make something to get as hot as red/white metal (when it's warmed up in the forge).

Estar al rojo vivo = to be red hot / to be white hot

And that's my :twocents:

I agree with David

that "red hot" captures the meaning. However, I don't remember ever actually using red hot in a sentence unless I was building a campfire...:D

You can use al rojo vivo figuratively as well, like that's hot stuff or something similar.

Come to think of it, David

I don't remember ever having actually said "hot stuff" either. I guess I am just idiom illiterate.

Ok, have you ever said that something is "hot" (figuratively, not literally), as in very popular. :)

Of course, David.
A lot of the people here are hot..., without mentioning names.;)
This site is hot!!!:);):D

Se puede decir que una persona está al rojo vivo o se usa solo por describir situaciones o cosas?

I think, Rojo vivo, you can use that word, when something're happening in the moment, for example:

My friendships're fighting for an girls, it's to be red hot.

Hey Police man, yes sir. Could you help me, tell me. How can I help you, the street in, with address street 24st Morelos, an guys're fighting and they are hurting them, ok, sir lets go, sir, I tell you the fight're to be red hot.

I hope you all are well.
