This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for April 16, 2009

gato (masculine noun (el)) — cat, jack, pound sign. Look up gato in the dictionary

¿Puedes sacar el gato para que cambiemos la llanta?
Can you get the jack so we can change the tire?

- Dar gato por liebre
- Ponerle el cascabel al gato
- Aquí hay gato encerrado
- Buscarle tres pies al gato
- De noche todos los gatos son pardos
- Llevarse el gato al agua

Poli: Aquí hay gato encerrado --> there is a cat in the bag.....
gata is the femenine people of Madrid......

¿Puedo contar un chiste en español sobre el tema? Es un juego de palabras, a ver si lo comprendéis. ¿Cuál es el animal que es animal dos veces? .... El gato, porque es gato y araña. :hmm:

By the way, my avatar is my cat, a female cat. Bu she doesn't scratch.

@poli: You'll find a few of the gato expressions and a few cat expressions already listed in the idiom dictionary. I'll add others.

Jajaja, los gatos españoles son pequeños... pero matones, jejeje.

Y la verdad es que el chiste se cuenta de otra manera. El animal que es animal dos veces es otro (:thinking:?). El gato es animal tres veces, pero eso va a ser más difícil de explicar... To be continued...:thinking:
