hey poli - i know the phrase in spanish as "echar las campanas a vuelo".

your translation is ok - like "no need to make a big deal of it.".

No echar las campanas al vuelo means not to anticipate things. I would say.

"Echar campanas al vuelo" es celebrar con júbilo. En el sentido que Robin dice, es celebrar algo antes de tiempo.

In that sense, then I would say:

No habia que echar campanas al vuelo.
