It looks like a case of agreement in gender, but totally impossible. If not a typo, what is it?

Why a los, then de los? Is the use of a and de merely idiomatic? If not quite, is there some rule of thumb?

Hi,

De la auditoría habían salido bien parados en lugar de ir a la cárcel.
