The examples you cite don't alter the fact that that an adjective is always descriptive and descriptive adjective is still a tautology.

"My, your" and "This and these" are pronouns.

Different than is definitely regarded as a solecism by grammarians on this side of the Atlantic.

Not wishing to appear pedantic or offensive (it is a language learning forum!) but "Different than" is regarded as incorrect in the UK - 'different from' is the preferred usage on this...
