Spanish has another,
much more common, way to say 'I have been (doing something) for (some amount of time). Study up on 'hace' + 'amount of time' + que + 'doing something (using the present indicative tense)'.
Hace dos años que trato de aprender español.

This is used to form the present perfect subjunctive tense in Spanish. It isn't called that in Spanish. It's the preterite perfect compound form of the verb. It uses the present tense conjugation of 'haber', followed by a past participle.

Ojalá is a word derived from Arabic used in Spanish today....
Ojalá que= I hope that...
