During or for?

I've been asked about this and I'm confused.
In this sentence: "I'll do what I can during the time we spend together", is "during" alright or should it be "for"?

At first it sounded alright to me with "during", but then I started thinking "for" might be more appropriate... so far, the explanations I've found about the use of both words have me scrambled.

Thanks in advance for all clarification.
