One of the points of strangeness to me is "ambos el inglés y el francés", which aleC improved with his suggestion using "ambos idiomas".
This entry for the word "ambos" at rae.es indicates that "ambos" is used with a plural noun, as in aleC's improvement. It appears that "ambos" is not used with two (or more) singular nouns joined by "y", as in the strange-sounding "ambos el inglés y el francés". ("Ambos" and "both" differ on this point, as "both languages" and "both English and French" are acceptable.)
