A paper dictionary that I would totally recommend for leaving on the coffee table, in your car or on top of the TV, is the
New World Spanish/English English/Spanish Dictionary. It's a cheapo paperback dictionary I bought for 5 or 6 dollars around 1999 or 2000 and it's been a great resource for me. I even took it to Costa Rica with me. I think it's a great compromise because, although it's small, it also has a lot of entries and somehow the font size and font face is a good combination for easy reading.
Here it is
on amazon They have some used copies available too.
You cou always go with an electronic dictionary, but IMO, they're more hassle & not as quick. But maybe you're more dexterous than I am.
