Travel can certainly be a great education if the type of vacation you choose does not include sitting around a pool all day and drinking syrupy rum concoctions. If you are interested in improving your Spanish language skills and in Hispanic culture, you certainly have lots of countries to choose from. I've been to Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay and Chile. They are all places with unique personality. I certainly found four of the five places I've visited fascinating, and the fifth(Uruguay) relaxing and peaceful.
If you can afford the luxury of travel you can really learn a lot in a short period of time. I would love to see the mountian cities of Ecuador and colonial Cartagena in Colombia. The next time I go to Mexico City, I plan to take a bus ride to Puebla and spend a day there.
