Hi everybody!
... Can someone please clarify the difference, in usage and meaning, between Spanish and Castillian, apart from the difference in accents? Especially in the year 2008. ... but isn´t Castilian and Spanish two words for the same water?
Hi Viveka,

En España existen varias lenguas oficiales: el castellano es el idioma principal, seguido por el gallego, el catalán y el euskera. Como el castellano es la lengua común a todos y además es la que se "exportó" a otros paises que fueron colonia española, se habla de castellano y español indistintamente para referirse a la misma lengua.

Spain has several official languages: Castilian is foremost and after that come Galitian, Catalan, and Euskera. Since Castilian is spoken by everyone in Spain, and it's also the language that was exported to other Spanish colonies, both Castilian and Spanish refer to the same language.

Hay diferencias entre el español de España y él de cada uno de los países donde se habla el castellano.

There are differences between the Spanish spoken in Spain and the Spanish spoken in each of the other countries.

Espero te ayude. I hope that helps.

Rusty
