I think you're getting confused between the verbs/tenses of Decir and Dar.
Díme is the imperative- (you) Tell me
Me lo dí= I gave it to me
Past
Dar-Yo dí, tu diste, él dió
Decir - Yo dije, tu dijiste, él dijo
Imperative
Dar-Dá
Decir-Dí
