Esto me habría salvado ("Salvar" is not a synonym of "ahorrar" or "evitar" (ahorrado) entrando (This is an English construction, not Spanish. Very often, -ing ending in English is translated into an infinitive in Spanish) en la ciudad.

Me hubiera salvado ir a la ciudad. (With another verb, this is the best one.)
Me habría salvado de ir a la ciudad. (Alright, as long as you consider going to the city as some kind of danger or big nuisance)
