"Se lo echará mucho de menos" and "costará mucho, pero se lo preservará encurtido" sound good to me.
About the risks of automatic translations there are many examples in
"Sign Language" at telegraph.co.uk (one of the most enjoyable ways to learn English that I've found). I have reverse translated a couple myself that might be of some use for you ... let me check over ....
