Intonation seems to me to be a part of pragmatics, more than semantics.

Once I told some Dominican prostitutes that were offering their services on the street, on broad light during working hours downtown Buenos Aires: "¡Ay, cada una viene más linda que la siguiente!" and they reply "¡Gracias!". And I didn't change my intonation either. What did I mean?

Nothing good is said with "imaginación calenturienta". Praise is most probably expressed by "rica imaginación", "prolífica imaginación" (or as "imaginación prolífica") or "imaginación desbordante".
