I have seen "por lo demás" translated as "otherwise". But it seems that "caso contrário" or "de não ser así" translate the word "otherwise" better.

I am wondering if something like "as far as the rest is concerned ..." wouldn't be a more appropriate translation for "por lo demás".

Any comments?
