"No ser moco de pavo" is used only for things and situations, never for persons.
A way of talking about an insignificant person can be "(ser) un cero a la izquierda", for example.

A Juan nunca le ha importado su esposa. Ella siempre ha sido un cero a la izquierda para él.

For your example, people here might say something like: "Me hice chiquito y nadie me vio en la fiesta".
