Thanks, aleCcowaN. I’ll now add workshops to my usage of “entrenar.”
I used the term “Mexican-American” because that is the term that came to mind since it is so highly used in the southwestern region of the United States where I live. We tend to hyphenate a nationality along with the word “American” a lot: Irish-American, Italian-American, etc. However, I will use your suggestions when speaking/writing Spanish from now on.
