It does make sense, if you think in English first.

To stay home = no salir de casa (quedarse)

To have a date with someone = salir en/tener una cita con alguien

To buy something = comprar algo

There is = haber/hay

Now, you normally would say something like the question "I like a lot this skirt. I am going to..... = Me gusta mucho esta falda. La voy a....." not in your home, not when on a date, not asking if there is. You are looking at a skirt that you like in a store, and you go there to buy.


Does this breakdown help you see why "comprar algo" fits there?
